Background
A Lifetime in the Water.
Suzi Teitelman has been teaching swimming since 1985 — decades of experience working with swimmers of all ages and abilities. She is an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor and has dedicated her career to individualized, safety-first swim education.
From 2006 to 2014, Suzi served as the Fitness and Aqua Coordinator and head swim coach at The Ponte Vedra Inn and Club. In 2011, she opened Swim Lesson Suzi LLC, bringing private, one-on-one lessons to families and individuals throughout the Jacksonville Beach area.
Teaching Philosophy
Not Traditional. On Purpose.
No lanes. No whistles. No group of strangers watching you figure out how to float. SLS is a private, heated saltwater pool beneath an enormous oak tree — and the teaching here is nothing like what you remember from childhood swim class.
Suzi does not teach swimming. She teaches swimmers. The difference matters. A curriculum teaches skills in sequence. A teacher pays attention to the person in front of them — their fear, their confidence, their pace, their joy. Fifteen-minute lessons are not a shortcut. They are a deliberate choice rooted in decades of experience.

Interested in a future role at a swim school or aquatic program? Suzi is developing a tuition-based mentorship for older teens and adults who want to learn how thoughtful, individualized swim instruction works.
Explore lesson planning, clear teaching cues, supporting water confidence, adapting instruction to different learners, and professional communication. Learning may include structured observation with permission, supervised practice and personal feedback from Suzi.
This is education, not a work-for-lessons arrangement. Participants pay tuition for the agreed training; maintenance and construction are not required. Contact Suzi for proposed dates, tuition, swimming-skill requirements and age eligibility. Participants under 18 require parent or guardian consent.
Private mentorship does not confer American Red Cross certification, school credit or a guaranteed job. Certification and hiring requirements are set by the relevant organizations and employers.
