I didn’t learn to swim — I grew up in the water.
Swimming has been part of my life since I was a little girl. Long before I ever taught a lesson, I understood water as a place of safety, regulation, confidence, and joy. That lifelong relationship with water is what shapes how I teach today.
I’ve been teaching swim lessons for decades, and I’ve worked with every kind of child — first swimmers, fearful swimmers, sensory-sensitive children, strong-willed children, children recovering from traumatic experiences, and children who were told they were “too scared” or “too difficult” to teach.
They are not.
I am a Red Cross–certified swim instructor and have taught thousands of private lessons over the years. But more importantly, I teach from the nervous system first, not from pressure or force.
Children don’t need to be pushed into water.
They need to feel safe with it.
My approach is calm, patient, intuitive, and structured — never chaotic, never rushed. I meet each child exactly where they are, and we build real confidence step by step. When a child feels safe, learning happens naturally.
Parents often tell me:
“This is the first time my child actually wanted to get in the pool.”
That’s the work.

(This is not a boot-camp swim lesson)
I do not use fear, force, or flooding techniques.
I do not throw children in the pool.
I do not yell, shame, or rush progress.
I do not compare children to siblings or peers.
Instead, I focus on:

Swimming is not just a skill — it’s a relationship with water. When that relationship is built correctly, children become strong, capable swimmers who want to be in the pool.

This is one of the most common questions parents ask me.
Yes — I work with fearful and traumatized children.
And yes — I expect fear. It does not scare me.
Fear is information. It tells us where to slow down, where to support, and where trust needs to be rebuilt.

You are in the right place.
Progress may look different for each child — and that’s okay. Safety and confidence always come first. Skills follow.

Texting is the best way to create a personalized lesson schedule that works for your family. I build my schedule around your needs whenever possible.
Once the pool opens for the season (around March 1), lessons are available seven days a week.
To secure a spot, it’s best to purchase lessons, submit the release form, and text early to be added to the calendar before availability fills.
How long does it take for my child to learn to swim?
Every child is different. Some progress quickly, others need time. We focus on safety, confidence, and real skill — not rushing.
What if my child cries?
Crying is communication, not failure. We move at your child’s pace and build trust first.
Do parents stay during lessons?
Yes — and I’ll guide you on how to support without interfering.
What ages do you teach?
From young beginners to older children who need confidence rebuilding.
Do you teach children with anxiety or sensory sensitivities?
Yes. Often very successfully.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed or unsure — that’s okay.
You don’t need to have the answers.
That’s my job.
I have many years of experience teaching children who benefit from extra care and individualized attention. Working with children with autism and other special needs is a meaningful focus of my work.
My teaching approach blends swimming technique with movement, music, playful sounds, and gentle guidance to create lessons that feel safe, engaging, and enjoyable. I often use singing and rhythm to support communication, regulation, and learning in ways children naturally respond to and love.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication from the University of Florida and am a professional singer and actress, as well as a member of Actors’ Equity Association. This background allows me to make lessons highly accessible, expressive, and engaging for a wide range of learners.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions about your child’s specific needs. I’m happy to talk through what would be the best approach for your family.
